How the Artist's Loft range is put together
Levels 1 to 3 on the label
Most items carry a level number. Academic paints, pencils and pens are Level 1, such as the 24-tube acrylic set and the 72 colored pencils. The artist pads, jewel tone markers and Marseille brushes sit at Level 2, while Level 3 is reserved for gallery wrapped canvas and the Firenze and Vienna brushes. Sorting by level first separates classroom supplies from studio ones faster than reading every title.

Small tubes and big bottles
The same colors appear at two scales. Sets use 12 mL or 21 mL tubes; titanium white and Mars black acrylic come in 500 mL bottles, titanium white and Prussian blue oil in 200 mL tubes. A painter who runs out of white first can restock that one color without opening another set.
Easels that carry their own kit

Paint bases, canvas and paper: what the supplies are made of
Acrylics are water based and fast drying; oils are slow drying. One stainless steel brush washer works with water, turpentine or mineral spirits, with a removable straining cup and an airtight lid that holds the liquid between sessions. The transparent pouring medium mixes at 1 part paint to 5 parts medium, dries high gloss and water resistant, and is for acrylics only.
Every canvas is cotton duck primed with gesso. The value packs use titanium acrylic gesso, and the 11 x 14 pack is triple primed and back stapled on a kiln dried frame. The black 16 x 20, the 10 x 20 lot and the 11 x 14 pack are archival and acid free, and the 16 x 20 gallery wrapped canvas sits on kiln-dried stretcher bars.
Paper weight is printed on each pad: 140 lb/300 gsm for watercolor, 84 lb/115 gsm for the toned pad and 70 lb (104 gsm) for the large drawing pad, all acid free. A good share of the paints, pencils and markers conforms to ASTM D-4236, and the metallic acrylics, the mediums set and the pouring medium are also AP certified. The gray sketch markers use acid free, nontoxic ink.
